[IELTS Writing Task 2] Having the first child at an older age

I have this Writing Task 2 that needs correction from members of this forum. Please help. I appreciate your time reading my piece of writing.

07/05/2016: Some people choose to have their first child at an older age. What are the reasons? Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

As a result, an extended number of families currently decide on having their first offspring at the later stage of their life. Numerous reasons can be put in to reason such choices, but it is the fact that the pros are taking over the cons that help the phenomenon to withstand.

It is widely known in developed countries that the preference on a steady job over a fulfilled family is still favorable. This is the result of the self-centered lifestyle, where individualism contributes its major impact on the mindset of the next generation. For examples, young people in their thirties now hang out at expensive places rather than stay home changing diapers for their kids. Their parents, in their previous time, are used to be wired at marriages and giving birth as responsibilities. The aforementioned example pointed out once more the cause for wed couples to persist on delaying having children. Their expanded knowledge on mastering the birth control techniques also allow them to achieve such target.

However, it is worth mentioned that the newly-born babies in their mothers’ forties are threatened by the potency of physical defects, such as the Down syndrome. Leaving that as the only drawback, the phenomenon is highly alike to reduce the number of children per family, thus control the national population at a better scale. Such measure is also ensuring the descendants to be more well-raised by more educated parents, giving hopes for the desired intellectual for further developments. In conclusion, there seems to be no worry about the future where there are fewer kids than usual. Based on the cited arguments, a generation whose fate are better-taken care at will compensate for all of the consequences it may bring.
