Fossil fuel is the main source of energy. In some countries, the use of alternative sources of energy is encouraged. Is this a positive or negative development?
In this day and age, there is no denying that humans are intensively exploiting conventional energy sources, which is indeed at the expense of the planet. Nonetheless, the exponential growth of technology and science in certain nations has made carbon-free energy sources increasingly available, hence, it is regarded as a greener substitute. I tend to concur that this advancement is beneficial to the overall community.
On the one hand, it is undoubtedly true that this form of energy still has a few disadvantages. First, renewable energy is prohibitively expensive due to its new and significance, which makes it out of reach for a plurality of poverty-stricken countries. To be more specific, alternative energy is reasonably difficult for companies or the authorities to employ as it requires multitudinous state-of-the-art equipment or facilities. Thus, the government is reluctant to abolish the use of conventional energy to pivot towards adopting renewable power.
On the other hand, regardless of the drawback of the alternative sources of energy, I am of the opinion that it should be employed universally to resolve various energy issues, varying from the scarcity of fresh energy to enormous carbon footprint. First, it is the overexploitation of these non-renewable power that triggers an environment being alarmingly contaminated, therefore, eco-friendly sources of energy ought to be promoted. For example, the use of this energy can reduce the rate of pollution thereby sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, it is widely accepted that renewable energy is more effective and productive in the long run because the conventional one is limited.
In conclusion, although renewable energy is costly to some extent, I believe that countries should strengthen it globally to enrich the community.
