IELTS Writing Task 2 - Feedback requested

Please could you give your feedbacks on my writing on the following topic? Thanks in advance.

Governments should spend money on railways rather than roads.

To what extent to you agree or disagree with this statement?

Nowadays, trains have become more and more common as a means of transportation. Thus, there emerges an idea that public funds should be diverted to railway systems instead of roads, which I completely disagree with.

To begin with, road transport has long been the most frequently used and easily accessible method of traveling. It cannot be denied that the vast majority of daily traffic takes place on roads, not railways since a number of different vehicles can be used on asphalt surfaces whereas trains are the only ones to function on railways. A subtle change in the operation of road transport, therefore, could result in complete disorder in terms of lifestyle, economic development and many other aspects of life. Moreover, there are certain terrains such as precipitous cliffs or narrow valleys where the construction and operation of railways is nearly impractical. Similarly, the use of cars or bikes is more convenient at times as rail is not available for covering short distances.

Of course, advocates of the aforementioned idea may argue that travelling by rail is safer as there are reportedly fewer accidents occurring on railways than on roads. However, the existence of roads itself is by no means the core cause of traffic accidents. It is the lack of awareness that creates the problem, which is likewise faced by rail transport. Additionally, the deterioration of transportation infrastructure also contributes greatly to the issue. Hence, in order to effectively reduce the risk of accidents, more money should be appropriately allocated for the improvement of road quality.

In conclusion, it is unreasonable to halt current governmental investment in maintaining road transport merely for the development of other means since it is an integral part of our daily life.
