IELTS Writing task 2!!! Fast-food consumption

In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent decades, it is true that fast-food consumption has become the topic of discussion due to its subtantial impacts on human health. Although fast food is tasty and convenient in some cases, it is essential for governments to enforce a higher tax on fast-food-manufactured companies.

There are a great deal of reasons why more and more people revel in purchasing fast food. First, due to the advancement in economics as a whole, adults are far more busier than they used to. Indeed, the majority of American white-collar workers are more likely to go to fast-food cafeterias such as McDonald’s or KFC than come home for lunch, which contributes to a higher expenditure on junk food. Second, the availability and affordability of fast food also acts as a incentive for its popularity. In fact, fast food is often made with low-priced ingredients such as high fat meat and refine grains, thereby allows it to be more accessible and economical than healthier food.

Despite its benefits for our lives, fast food is still fraught with pitfalls, and government should impose a higher tax on this sort of food. One of the reason is governments could command as well as lower the annual death proportion due to health. For example, by consuming a large amount of fast food on a regular basis, a normal adult could be susceptible to some health issues such as heart attack, which decreases his life expectancy. In addition, by reducing the suppier of this type of food, goverments are also conducive to preserve the value of traditional food. Traditional food is not only the delight of nation but also the cultural specificity of each country.

In conclusion, government should render taxes higher to protect the citizens’ heaths as well as maintain the value of traditional food.
