Some people believe that it is important for children to attend extra classes outside school, while others believe that they should be allowed to play after school.

In some regions of the world, children are forced to attend other classes apart from their school learning. There are many debates about whether children should take part in those extra classes or enjoy their leisure time. Although taking extra classes will bring a number of perks for children, I believe that they should be allowed to play after school.
Education is essential for the youngsters so many parents choose to sign up supplementary classes for their children. Especially in some Asian countries, children are made to take a large number of additional classes because it helps them learn more than school does. Hence, it gives them academic advantages to secure better grades at school. Needless to say, they eventually get better grades than their peers while children who don’t attend extra classes often fall behind and might have comparatively poor grades.
However, despite better school performance, extracurricular learning can affect children’s mental health. Take China as an example, sucidal rate is the highest among the young populations as Chinese students suffer from heavy academic burden. They should be allowed to enjoy their lives, hanging out with their friends or spending time with their families since it helps them relieve their stress after school. Additionally, it’s better for children to choose whether to attend extra classes than forcing them to study.
To conclude, even though both views have their own merits, I think it’s necessary for children to be given freedom to play and socialize outside school hours.
