IELTS Writing Task 2 essay

Some people believe that educational success depends on good teacher, others think that it depends on the attitude of the students. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

It is held by some people, that the academic success of a student entirely depends on teachers whilst others insist that only the student himself can influence his or her marks. I personally believe that teacher's influence doesn't fully guarantee good academic results.

On the one hand, it will be wrong to claim that the way how the teacher teaches students has no impact on their marks because they can provide invaluable help throughout the learning process. They are, first of all, professionals, who had a lot of experience teaching people, thereafter, they know about the strengths and weaknesses of their students. They can also provide helpful tips to achieve better grades and can pick up appropriate learning strategies.

On the other hand, meanwhile, students should have a strong desire to learn and improve their marks. No matter how good and effective the teacher and its teaching strategy is, if the student neglects his attitude towards learning, nothing can help him. The only one whose actions play a key part is the learner himself. That also explains why students, while having the same teachers have different outcomes. All of them are taught exactly the same but their results vary simply due to the fact that their attitude differs either. In addition, nowadays there are a lot of available recourses and information so every student can be educated without a teacher's influence.

In conclusion, the main role in achieving high knowledge belongs to the student. People determined to get success in education will reach it with or without somebody's interference, nonetheless, the teacher's role should not be underestimated.

By the way, I realize that I pretty frequently use the word "teacher", it is simply because I have no idea about synonyms to this word. If you have some options, please let me know.
