IELTS Writing Task 2: Create business during college or not

Task 2: Some colleges encourage students to create businesses while they are still in school. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Nowadays, some people believe that colleges should foster their students to begin their businesses which has some certain advantages. However, I firmly believe that there would be more drawbacks when students create their start-ups during college due to a loss of concentration on their academic work.

To begin with, creating new businesses help students to acquire crucial social skills or economic knowledge. It would be necessary for them to actively obtain new competencies relating to their start-ups to improve their businesses, which is in fact a good way to educate or acknowledge them with these accomplishments. Moreover, students undergoing a hard time maintaining their businesses would be more likely to impress employers with their practical experience.

Nevertheless, colleges trying to create incentives to encourage their students to open businesses would eventually make them pay less attention to their academic work. Since creating a successful business requires decent effort and time, students would have to confront a dearth of time and energy to spend on their studies. For instance, students with their nascent businesses need to concentrate on government laws or policy for business, their start-ups' income, or even human resources management, thus, this would lead to a lack of time for them to complete academic projects in colleges.

To sum up, prompting students to begin their start-ups during their college would bring certain benefits as they can obtain new competencies which are crucial for their profession. However, I think it is better to not encourage them to do so due to some feasible loss of concentration on their study which would ultimately cause more harm.
