“Countries are becoming more and more similar because people are able to buy the same products anywhere in the world.
Do you think this is a positive development or a negative development?”
People nowadays are getting more and more things in common, which has emerged as a result of globalization. From my point of view, this inevitable trend is a positive development. This essay will explain the reasons in depth.
To start with, it is claimed with certainty that mutual trade agreements between nations have narrowed the gaps in term of people’s lifestyle. It not only creates a various market where consumers can have numerous choices of high quality products and services, but also shares multi-cultural understanding among people around the world. For instance, an Apple or Samsung product can be purchased at nearly the same time in different countries, regions or even continentials in the first day launching. This convenience can bring a sense of satisfaction to their fans in a global scale.
Another argument to support this view is that international companies tend to open their representative offices, branches or factories in potential markets and some of them are located in developing countries. This movement can create new jobs as well as benefit economically to both parties. As a matter of fact, local companies with their domestic products are now put into international competition, which requires them to make further efforts in order to manufacture higher quality products. Only by this way can they gain competitive edge with global brands: either their products meet certain international standards or they will lose their domestic market shares for foreign companies. The customers, in this case, are benefited from the chance to purchase good quality products with competitive prices.
On the whole, I strongly believe that globalization has partly eliminated the trade and cultural barriers among nations, thus bring people closer. This phenomenon should be considered as a positive development all over the world.
