IELTS Writing Task 2 - Communication

Prompt: In most successful companies, some people think that communication between employers
and workers is the most important factor. Other people say that other factors are more
important.

Opinions diverge on what is the pivotal contributor to the success of a company. Some people working in lucrative companies believe that it is the communication between the employers and employees while others argue that it must be other factors. My view is that among various elements, communication is of utmost importance.

To begin with, it is unquestionable that the wellbeing of a company is constituted from a number of factors. One of which is the firm’s financial capacity. Evidently, if a company does not have sufficient amount of money to invest in its products and services as well as endure unfortunate losses, it cannot withstand the fluctuations of the market and thus collapse shortly. In addition, the brand image of the company is also an essential element. Apple, Chanel and Rolex, for example, are the businesses that build its fame as luxurious and high quality product manufacturers and manage to attract thousands of customers merely by their long-lasting reputation.

Nevertheless, I believe that it is the communication between employers and workers that exert the strongest influence of the performance of the enterprises. This is because only when employers and workers have conversations with each other can they understand each other’s aspirations, therefore reach an agreement that benefits both parties. In particular, by means of communication, the enterprise owners can have a grasp of what the employees expect from the company, and thus give the apt motivation, such as promotion and bonuses, to encourage the employees. Likewise, the workers can also comprehend the targets of the companies and make every effort to achieve it when they have a discussion with the companies. Furthermore, effective communication is the most direct way for employers to build rapport with the employees, thereby maintaining the employees’ loyalty towards the companies.

In conclusion, although there are multiple components to create a lucrative business, my firm conviction is that the communication is the core factor deciding whether a company is going to come to fruition or not.
