In recent years, the structure of a family and the role of its member are gradually changing. What kinds of changes can occur? Do you think these changes are positive and negative?
It is observable from the reality that the family tree has witnessed some remarkable changes in recent years, including the role transformations at some aspects. Although being significant, it is indicated that the positivities are emerging over the negativities, as the writing will point out below.
The most visible matter that could be seen in modern families is that husbands and wives now take similar roles in family construction. For example, it is normal for women to have jobs and share their part in the mutual budget while men excel at babysitting skills. Such transformation is boosting up the family performance and accelerating the mass production of a particular nation. Next up, the model of nuclear families now dominates its traditional version of extended ones. As a matter of fact, children has to leave their homes finding better job opportunities in dynamic cities. As disappointing as it may sound, this model is continuing until a significant change in economic status occurs.
With such changes happen, it is seen that the family spirit is spotted less remarkably among the residents nowadays, especially in developing countries. The continuous progress of lacking having dinner together, making frequent calls, etc… will contribute negatively to the overall picture. For example, family members are going to stress up and hardly can debate and agree on certain decisions. The phenomenon is also believed to go against the Asian traditions, and as we go numb and heartless, we might lose a massive cultural foundation our ancestors have taken years to accomplish.
In a nutshell, family structure may adjust to adapt to the sociological demands, but it is vital that the changes are not contributing severely to any linkages (which implies the importance of preserving the cultural heritage at some aspects)
