Task 2:
Some people think that children should aim to try their best at what
they doing. Others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion?
It is believed that children should master all subjects as well as other things they study at school and do in their daily life. Conversely, other people contradict this controversial issue and think it is not necessary for children to be proficient in a variety of tasks. This essay will discuss both problems and suggest that children should endeavor to learn the skills that are crucial for their future life.
To begin with, it is inevitable that a majority of parents desire their children to be flawless. To live up to their parents’ expectations, children must attempt to study industriously and perform well in all subjects, including the ones they are not good at to rank among the class’s exceptional students. However, this will not be beneficial to children as parents think because learning numerous subjects will probably put pressure on adolescents and affect their mental development. For example, Vietnamese students have to study 13 subjects as part of school’s curricular and go to extra classes to gain an adequate knowledge to go to reputable universities and they often become depressed. As a result, they neglect their study or even commit suicide to relieve pressure.
On the other hand, there is no point in promoting children to try their best at what they are doing. The reason is because every individual is not a perfectionist and he has his own strengths and weaknesses in a variety of aspects such as music, sports, languages, et cetera. Meanwhile, parents always want their children to be model students and the only way to achieve this is to study everything well. If you force a gifted musician to study maths, he will be unenthusiastic and show little interests because he has no flair for numbers. Therefore, it is significant for parents to accept that children are not perfect, recognize their talents and help them develop their particular aptitudes.
In conclusion, it is not essential for children to make an effort to do everything successfully. In my opinion, I suggest that children should only master the skills that play a vital role in their future occupation and life.
