Task 2: Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement.
To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?
Some people believe that the waste from houses is not recycled enough and say that the only way to encourage recycling is for governments to legally require each individual to recycle. From my perspective, I firmly agree with this idea which laws are brought in to enhance the level of recycled garbage.
To begin with, some citizens often think that the cleaners or workers are responsible for collecting and renew their used nilon bags or bottles. However, if the authorities indicate the significance of recycling rubbish and run a compulsory law on this, they will do without complaining. As an illustration, Vietnam has recently required each household to classify their waste into 3 groups include renewable, non-renewable and toxic waste before releasing them. Consequently, the amount of recycled garbage has steeply increased.
Furthermore, schools should offer their students an insight into the 3R principle which stands for reuse, reduce and recycle. This means that they need to include recycling as a part of the school curricular as well as hold some competitions in which children can make colorful models from carton boxes or bottles. For instance, in some Vietnamese primary schools, a non-plastic festival usually takes place every year in order to educate youngsters about plastic objects, which is detrimental to the environment.
In conclusion, not only policy but also education plays a crucial role in preventing poisonous rubbish from being thrown away illegally. In my opinion, the government must take action to tackle the problem of overusing plastic bags and bottles.
