IELTS WRITING TASK 2 6/6/2020

It is not necessary to travel to other places to learn about other cultures. We can learn from books, films and internet. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

These days, the question of whether travelers should travel to other places to learn about other cultures or they can learn from books, films or in the Internet has been receiving a great deal of public attention. Although traveling by learning from the media appears attractive, the disadvantages will be far more significant.

On the one hand, traveling from books, films or in the Internet have some certain benefits for visitors. First, by traveling from reading books or watching films, travelers are able to save a great deal of money. In fact, the cost of a tour, including tickets, accommodation and transportation expenses, is prohibitively expensive, which helps travelers can save money for other priorities like studying or daily basic demands. Second, because of the proliferation of technology, visitors are easy to learn other cultures without worrying about the dangers. In fact, physical travels may put visitors in jeopardy, espescially picpocketing and conficts, which reduces the potential threats in travelling.

On the other hand, there are several compelling reasons why travelers should travel in person. One of those benefits is that physical travels offer one-of-a-kind experience to tourists. This means that tourists have more chance to immerse themselves into the nature, which helps them get a sense of relaxation as a result. Second, by travelling in person, tourists are more likely to have a profound insight into the culture of a country. For example, visitors will have more opportunities to communicate with the local inhabitants, and taste local cuisines, which enables tourists gain more knowledge about the customs and traditions of the country.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that physical travels can help visitors gain more knowledge about the culture of other countries rather than cyber travels. By considering all the pros and cons, visitors can make the best decision to fully enjoy when traveling.
