IELTS WRITING TASK 2.

Some working parents believe childcare centers can provide the best care for children, while others think family members like grandparents can do it better. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is sometimes argued that the task of tending to children can be best done by childcare centers, while others argue that familial members such as grandparents can fulfill this duty better. Personally, I believe that both ways are evenly effective, depending on individual circumstances.

Granted, families are often unsuitable for the job of caring kids for certain reasons, including health issues and generational gaps. For example, looking after three children simultaneously is often considered overwhelming for most grandparents, since they tend to have some age-related problems, such as a forgetful mind and deteriorating well-being. As a result, kids may have accidents while playing or be accidentally left unfed for a long time, which will less likely happen at childcare centers. Moreover, due to significant differences in generations, family members can struggle to handle the children, who are often regarded as excessively stubborn and playful.

Nevertheless, families shouldering the responsibility of caring for children is also a good choice, given that kids can be safeguarded from certain socially unacceptable behaviors. Body shaming and physical bullying, for instance, are likely to occur to most kids, especially those who are not as able-bodied as their peers. Consequently, exposure to such negative situations during these formative years can leave an indelible impact on the victims’ minds, thereby increasing their susceptibility to several mental problems, such as fear and lack of self-esteem. This means that letting children stay at home with grandparents is a preventable measure against those toxic incidents.

In conclusion, whether children should be sent to nursery schools or stay at home with their relatives in order to receive the best care is contingent on personal situations, as both options are equally beneficial.
