IELTS WRITING TASK 2.

We have three important parts of education: reading, writing and math. Some people think every child will benefit from a fourth skill added to the list: computer skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is often believed that computer skills should be incorporated into the national curriculum in the interests of schoolchildren. Personally, I totally agree with this perspective given that this initiative may help students get better equipped in this digital age and their future careers.

The cogent reason why learning computer skills at school is advocated is its necessity in education. The development of digital technology means that students can now harness it effectively for their studies. Therefore, if left untaught, computer-illiterate students may not be able to access an abundance of materials or enjoy several forms of entertainment. Additionally, computer skills could allow learners to be more proactive in learning. With the availability of information, they can research any topics in which they are interested immediately, erasing the need to travel to the local libraries or ask their teachers as in the past.

The second reason for my belief is that this approach can help students when finding a job or seeking for promotions. Being able to use the computer enables them to finish their daily assignments more easily and effectively. For example, workers can create visual aids to assist their presentations; or they can use online calendars to organize and manage their time wisely so that they can preemptively avoid being late or missing important meetings. By utilizing such applications of the computer and the Internet, an employee can then meet their employers’ standards, and even impress them. Consequently, they can be offered several job prospects.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly agree with the idea that educating students about computeracy can be immensely advantageous considering that it can be conducive to their studies and future working lives.
