Some people think that the best way to increase road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving cars or riding motorbikes.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, it is believed that the most optimal way to enhance on-road safety is to increase the limitation of legal age for using vehicles. Although this method is effective to some extent, I would argue that there are better solutions can be carried out in order to improve the highway safety.

On the one hand, there are some reasons to support the idea why increasing the minimum legal age is effective. Teenagers tend to cause traffic collisions due to their inexperience. As a matter of fact, Youngsters have gained less exposure to driving. For example, when they are confronted with a slippery road or drive in extreme weather conditions, young drivers are likely to fly into a panic and cannot drive in calm. As a result, road traffic is regularly caused.
On the other hand, there are several better solutions in order to enhance road safety. First, it is essential for the authorities to make driving tests more challenging . The reason is when drivers do more advanced exams before they have enough ability to receive driver’s licenses, they stand a chance to improve their driving skills. Moreover, stricter rules also act as deterrents against irresponsible driving habits. As a result, traffic collisions will be thoroughly limited via these methods.

In conclusion, while there may be some reasons to support a higher age threshold for driving, I am of the opinion that the suggested approaches would be more effective to curb the traffic accident rate.
