In many countries, plastic shopping bags are the main source of rubbish. They cause water and land pollution, so they should be banned. To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Plastic shopping bags are commonly considered to be the major source of rubbish as well as being extremely deteriorated to the environment. As a consequence, many people advocate for banning those nylon bags in order to ameliorate the environment. From my perspective, I completely agree with the notion of prohibiting plastic bags and this essay will address the purposes for my views as follows.

To begin with, it is undeniable to state that plastic bags cause detrimental impacts on the environment, especially for lands and animals. Nylon bags are non-biodegradable, they continuously pose a threat and negatively affect the long-term animals' habitat. Particularly, there is an increasing number of animals dying due to consuming enormous amounts of plastic bags. In addition, it takes hundreds of years for plastic bags to completely decompose, and their toxic substances are released when burned, steadily worsening the environment.

Considering the negative effects brought on by plastic bags, I believe that paper bags are an absolute alternative to plastic bags in dealing with these controversial issues. While carrying a myriad of benefits from plastic bags, paper bags are also more environmentally friendly and biodegradable compared to nylon bags. Moreover, they can withstand more pressure and weight than plastic bags. Hence, it is reasonable to prefer using paper bags to reduce plastic pollution.

To conclude, I opine with banning plastic bags across the globe concerns numerous detrimental impacts on the environment. Plastic bags’ repercussions destroyed animals and plants’ habitation as well as toxic substances were released had been gradually increased environmental stresses. Furthermore, I would suggest that each individual has to be responsible to tackle the problem by using alternate methods.
