In many countries, plastic containers have become more popular than ever. They are used in many businesses such as the food and drink industry. Do you think the advantages of this outweigh its disadvantages?

With various benefits of plastic comes its increasing prevalence in food and beverage sectors all over the world. However, this widespread tendency can bring both pros and cons in terms of economy and environment. From my perspective, the drawbacks of this development can eclipse the benefits that individuals can reap from this material.

On the one hand, availing plastic as containers can assist companies in acquiring more profit. To be more specific, producers can save a large amount of money if using this material instead of glass, which is much more prohibitive than the former. Hence, the price of products can be kept affordable for a majority of consumers and boost both the consumerism and production rate. Moreover, plastic containers allow the products to be more appealing, thus attracting more potential buyers. For example, beverage stuff such as Sting or Number one create unique bottle with eye-catchy appearance to enchant consumers.

On the other hand, I rigorously believe that the disadvantages of plastic container far outweigh the advantages. The first adverse impact is that it causes harm to the environment. With the combination of throw-away culture and mass production of products with disposable wrappings, the nature is suffering from the excessive amount of waste that human discharge every single day. As a way of demonstrating, the environment of most countries around the world is encountering the alarming rate of environmental deterioration due to rising plastic waste disposal. Secondly, the wildlife is also in danger of extinction because of plastic waste. For example, waste disposed into the ocean is usually mistaken as food by marine creatures, which makes them less likely to reproduce or survive.

In conclusion, I contend that the drawbacks of plastic containers are superior to the benefits, which can destroy the environment and injure the survival of animals. In my opinion, it is time for every individual to take action about this issue. Whenever one resolute action is made, a positive change can be brought about at the same time.
