Some people think that the best way to be successful in life is to get a university education. Others disagree and say this is no longer true. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

It is sometimes argued that the optimum way to succeed in life is to obtain a university education, while others think otherwise, saying that this belief is invalid. This essay discusses both sides of this argument, and then I will give my standpoint which is that one can develop their skill base, and the route to success depends.

There are several reasons behind the belief that attaining a university education is the best choice. First, university students are more likely to be headhunted by leading companies when they graduate. Unarguably, since they have a degree, it proves their intellect and ability to be tenacious. This means they will possibly work with high productivity and efficiency, which arguably assists them in gaining success in their careers. Second, university students are more able to become highly proficient workers. As they get to the university, they are required to study subjects pertaining to their majors, which, therefore, elevates their academic prowess and turns them into promising employees.

Nevertheless, there are rationales associated with the belief that pursuing higher education is no longer the most effective way to succeed, one of which is people can still have a successful career if they choose those prioritizing practical skills and experience. For example, digital marketing and customer service, high-paying callings, require workers who possess certain qualities, namely the ability to surmount unexpected challenges and smooth communication skills. Moreover, people have their own ways to succeed. It is often said that not all people associate their success with a gainful career, so some may prefer pursuing their lifelong ambition or supporting unprivileged members of society to landing a highly paid occupation.

In conclusion, I agree both sides are justifiable. However, it is my belief that attaining a university education is not the optimal way to succeed, as I maintain that people have different routes to their success and they can enhance their skill set to be successful.
