Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is argued that universities ought to accept equal proportion of each gender in every university subject. In my opinion, I do not agree with this idea.

Having the same numbers of men and women in all degree courses is simply unrealistic. When students apply their application form to the university, each of them has their own choices which are according to their preferences and desires. If a university decided to fill courses with equal numbers of male and female students, they might not have enough students for each class. As a result, students get tired of not being able to choose the major they want, and universities take time to find students to satisfy the following condition.

Apart from the practical concerns expressed above, I also believe that it is a mistake to base admission to university courses on gender. First, universities should let both male and female students have the same opportunities, applicants who have the chance to devote themselves to the university course that they like and therefore they will have in-depth knowledge of these subjects and contribute related value to the community. Second, if a female student is the best candidate for a place on a course, it is surely wrong to reject her in favour of a male student with lower grades or fewer qualifications. This may lead to the loss of talent and the slowdown in economic growth in our country

In conclusion, university students should have their own right to choose degree courses, it would be unpractical and unfair to change their choice based on gender
