What are the pros and cons for children of watching TV Children nowadays can have access to a battery of technical devices including televisions. It arguably offers them a heap of benefits but also consists of many drawbacks. On the one hand, television can assist children in learning all aspects of the world. It provides them with a wide range of educational programs in various fields; hence, children can acquire common knowledge and broaden their horizons. Moreover, there is also reliable and up-to-date information on television for kids to obtain; therefore, it can encourage them to seek the answer to their questions about numerous things on their own. In so doing, children might form a habit of self-studying which will be an essential skill for the future. On the other hand, an excessive amount of time in front of the television can lead to health hazards. Some studies have found a correlation between TV watching and obesity. It’s also believed to contribute to several health problems like sleep deprivation, myopia, and even make one physically weak due to lack of exercise. Moreover, in some severe cases, children can be addicted to television and spend less time going outside or interacting with other people. I assume this will drastically affect their personality development and result in disruptive behaviors.

In conclusion, watching TV provides children with plenty of valuable learning materials, however; they are advised to use it for an adequate amount of time to avoid health deterioration. I believe the advantages will ultimately outweigh the disadvantages.
