These days, people work in more than one job and often change career of several times during the life .What are the advantages and disadvantages of this

Nowadays, people are inclined to work several jobs at a time and change their career multiple times throughout their life. This can be both advantageous and disadvantageous for them. On one hand, working on many fields offers one a wide spectrum of knowledge and skills. For instance, it expands their skill sets in different sectors and industries; therefore, they will have a high probability of outcompeting other applicants and prospects of promotion. Moreover, this can also increase their opportunities to network from being in touch with colleagues, peers, and superiors. In so doing, one might opens up more future business opportunities, sign lucrative contracts.On the other hand, changing jobs several times could lead to difficulty in adapting. It is essential for a employer to acquire the necessary skills for the job, forming work-relationship or have an insight into the company culture and disciplines. Unfortunately, none of these could be obtained overnight and it also requires a lot of time, effort and persistence. In addition, this could be a great hindrance to climb the corporate ladder due to constantly having to start afresh and limited time to commit to a career; hence, this might harm one’s prospects for promotion and incentives or result in being in handed menial tasks.

All thing considered, changing career many times or doing more than one job can have both detrimental and beneficial effects. One could broaden their knowledge, skills and widen business network, but it also make them difficult to integrate into a new workplace or increase promotion prospects. Personally, I believe the advantages will ultimately outweigh the disadvantages.
