Q: Some people think that government should ban dangerous sports, while others think that people should have freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Some people are of the opinion that some activities should be prohibited due to their danger while others believe that people have freedom to take part. Although both schools of thought possess their own perks, I think that people’s right to participate in sports should not have any boundaries.
On the other hand, many countries disallow people to play
dangerous sports due to the number of deaths and injuries cases. To be specific, thrilling sports such as bungee jumping, skydiving,... require players’ knowledge about precaution, guidelines,... However, many of them do not follow these strictly, leading to fatal or permanent injuries. Thus, people think that it is not deserved for dangerous activities’ participants to lose their lives or injure themselves.
On the other hand, government is the one allowing people to play any sports they want. Specifically, one of the pivotal rules in the constitution is that people have freedom so they have their right to participate in any legal activities. Moreover, some regions have considered safety guidelines as a must when playing dangerous sports so as to reduce the death rate of these. As a consequence, dangerous sports can attract people freely thanks to the constitution as well as compulsory instructions.
In conclusion, although there are many risks when playing risky activities, players still take part in these because of their rights and strict knowledge. Personally, I believe that countries should ensure that people will follow dangerous sports’ rules before allowing them to participate in these activities.
