Task 2: For school children, their teachers have more influence on their intelligence and social development than their parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that teachers and parents both play indispensable roles in every children’s development. While I accept that the teachers may have more impact on children’s intellectual development, I would argue that parents would have more considerable bearing on children’s social development.
In terms of stimulating the intelligence of children, the teacher has a significantly pivotal role. Most of the children in every country are entitled to go to school. Here, they would spend most of their time learning knowledge of a wealth of subjects which are taught by well-trained teachers. They are trained to impart their professional area’s knowledge in a vivid way. Also, there would be chances that the students can be inspired to arouse the passion for a subject which they may pursue in the future.
On the other hand, regarding social development, I think that parents are mainly responsible for the formation of their children’s personalities and behaviours. They are the ones that you would spend the most time with during your whole life, which none of any teachers could do. They could know which would be the optimal method to guide you properly when it comes to social development. Also, children can take their parents as their model in an eclectic situation such as behaviours with the elders, eating manners, choice of friends.
In conclusion, while the teachers would exert tremendous influence on children’s intellectual development, parents still have a much more important effect on their children’s social situations. We should appreciate both of them.
