Internet technology means people do not need to travel to foreign countries to understand how other lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In recent years, with the development of the Internet, some argue that it is unnecessary for people to travel abroad in order to experience the way foreigners live. This essay partially disagrees with this idea because while using the Internet to explore other countries may save people money, travelling can bring people more realistic experiences.
On the one hand, finding information about the culture of a country on the Internet saves people time and money. Nowadays, with the help of Internet technology, people have access to many websites and news which updates the latest information about the countries they are curious about. Consequently, people do not need to pay any cost to get to know the culture of other regions in the world. Especially at the present, the world is suffering from the COVID-19 so that travelling abroad is restricted. In spite of the pandemic, people can virtually connect with people all around the world through the Internet.
On the other hand, I believe that in order to fully understand about the resident of a country, people should interact face-to-face with them. Admittedly, the Internet provides an enormous source of information about foreign countries, it cannot bring people the realistic experience about those countries. Since news and information on the Internet mostly comes from the subjective outlook of the writer, people hardly satisfy and be convinced by the content they read. As a result, many people ended up paying for a plane ticket to fly to the country they want to explore. As this money pays for valuable experience that the Internet cannot replace, it is considered a worthy investment.
In conclusion, in an economic standpoint, it is more reasonable for people to explore other countries through the Internet. But all things considered, I still believe that travelling to another country does better to help people fully understand a foreign country.
