Hi, I have just written a new essay. Please help me correct it. Thank you.

Some people feel that the governments should take a large proportion of people’s salaries to pay for necessary public services such as roads and schools. Others feel that high taxes are a bad thing.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some people think making people pay high taxes is necessary to improve public services, whereas others disagree with this idea. I agree with the sooner argument as taxes can be used to maintain the quality of public services.

On the one hand, taxes are a financial burden to some people who believe they would not have enough money to spend after a large sum is detracted from their salaries. To them, collecting taxes to pay for government workers like firefighters and officers is unnecessary as they think there are very few chances of them being in an emergency and needing help from those workers. Instead, a greater amount of their salaries should be spent on other daily things. Moreover, there is not always a public infrastructure such as schools and roads under construction every month, so paying high taxes monthly should not be compulsory.

However, there are many reasons why the governments should collect high taxes. Firstly, the money raised can be used to maintain the quality of public buildings like schools. For example, in Vietnam, because low school fees are not enough to pay for maintenance costs, taxes are very much needed. Secondly, although it is reasonable to expect that you will not need emergency services in your whole life, spending a part of your salary on them is a good thing to do. If we left the infrastructures like fire and police stations rundown and the public workers ill-equipped, it would cause problems for us in case of emergencies. Thus, collecting taxes improves our community as well as making it safer.

In conclusion, I strongly believe we should pay high taxes so that public services are in their best condition, thereby being able to assist us when we need them.
