Some people say that protecting the environment is the government’s responsibility. Others believe that every individual should be responsible for it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Several environmental issues such as global warming or air pollution are indeed damaging humans’ lives tremendously. While many individuals believe that the authorities should be accountable for the conservation of the environment, others affirm that it is an individual’s responsibility. Although people are still divided on whether citizens or state officials should take responsibility, I am of the opinion that both parties play an imperative role in an endeavor to tackle this problem.
On the one hand, it is widely believed that the protection of the planet seems impossible without government intervention. To be more specific, the deterioration of the habitat is attributable to a host of causes, including water contamination and overconsumption of single-use products. Therefore, the authorities can compel manufacturers to produce durable goods by bringing strict enforcement of regulations. Moreover, the funds they have at their disposal need to be utilized effectively and properly. For instance, more money can be diverted into researching ways facilitating environment conservation such as making green technologies affordable.
On the other hand, although the participation of government in the alleviation of environmental problems is wholly warranted, it is citizens’ actions that can obtain the objective. Firstly, humans are key to making society environmentally-friendly. They can promote a non-toxic lifestyle by using public transportation regularly. Furthermore, the ordinary can support stores or conservation programs that prioritize sustainable business practices and boycott those exploiting excessively natural resources. For example, clients should spread information about milk tea stores abolishing the consumption of plastic straws through the media, which can lead to a non-toxic community.
In conclusion, environmental conservation is of utmost importance to the planet. Thus, I believe that this accountability rests with authorities and individuals.
