Question

Some people believe that school children should not be given homework by their teachers, whereas others argue that homework plays an important role in the education of children. Discuss both of these views and give your own opinion.

These days, the matter regarding to how to improve the quality of education has attracted multiple concerns. Although many believe that homework should not be given to students by their teachers, others stay a notion that this method has a crucial role to play in children's academic performance. This essay is to discuss both views and give my own opinion.

One the one hand, doing homework is believed to bring in numerous advantages. Once homework in undertaken as their obligation before the next classes, it is an effective way to ensure that they do not neglect their study. It is believed to raise awareness in their study habit every day. As a result, they are less likely to fall behind with their academic result. The next advantage is that this measure is a great chance to reinforce their knowledge at school. After school, they spent more time revising what they have learned. This leads to the improvement through daily hard work, especially those lacking the talent for a particular subject area.

Despite the justification for the merits of giving homework to students, I am positive with the fact that teachers should not give assignments to their students. First, students should take their time after school, to focus on what they are eager to do rather than withstand the workload from subjects that they are not fond of. By that way, school children find their own interest in their study, in place of stress and anxiety emotions. Second, physical activities play a fundamental role in children development. While studying at school is an opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge of school subjects, the entire time at home should be considered for outside activities including playing sports of hitting the gym. This contributes to the balance between physic and mental recognition, which is a key to the comprehensive stride of school children.

In conclusion, although both views certainly have some validity, it seems to me that it is better to let children decide what to do after school from teachers.

That is not a good opening statement. It is very general and abstract and does not relate very well to the topic.

Better: Homework assignments have long been established as standard practice in education systems. Even first graders have exercises on paper to complete at home. But some educators are calling this into question, asserting that students might be better off if they had no schoolwork to do at home.

That is not a good thesis statement. Give your opinion as a thesis statement. Don't write "I am going to give you my opinion." It is very bad form for an academic essay.

E.g. I strongly believe that these educators are correct. Children should not be given mandatory homework assignments; they should be able to choose to do homework or not, and decide which subjects they will practice at home.
