Topic: Computers are often argued to be the most important invention of the last hundred years. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

My essay:

With the development of technology during the last hundred years has had the greatest impact on people's lives. Many people believe that computers are the greatest invention of the 20th century. While there are in fact many other important inventions that been made during that period too. Personally, I agree that with the idea that computer invention played the most crucial part in the development of human society over the past years for many reasons.

To begin with, it is undeniable that computers are essential tools in our works and everyday lives. This is because they can do some of our work more efficiently than us and can stock millions of data that are easily accessible all over the world. For example, a small and lightweight computer around 700 grams can save hold thousands or even millions of images, books, newspaper articles, songs, etc.., which would otherwise take people forever to record using other media. In addition, computers have created it attainable to bring many books and different digitized info to universities, workplaces, government establishments and even to people's homes.

Secondly, the development of computers later leads to the invention of the Internet and artificial intelligence, which changed the way that the world is communicating and thinking. People are calling this development ‘the 4.0 revolution’, to mark the dawn of the Information Technological age. The world is now ‘flatten’, and people get more equal opportunities to have access to information, to be able to achieve better living conditions.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that computers deserve to be considered the most important invention of the last hundred years owing to their immense benefits to humanity. Although the major contribution of computers in easing our professional lives. I believe that other crucial inventions have been made in the last century.
