Can you help me with this essay, please?
Topic: The media pays too much attention to the lives and relationships of celebrities such as actors, singers or footballers. They should spend more time reporting the lives of ordinary people instead. To what extend to you agree or disagree?
My essay:
In modern society, the prosperity of the civilization is better than before. Modern media, such as television, newspapers, magazines, reinforces our accesses to news and information of all kinds, the most prevalent of which are those about public figures and celebrities’. There is a growing awareness that media now play too much attention to the personal lives of famous people. As far as I am concerned, I completely disagree with this view.
Firstly, people are surrounded by all kinds of reports about famous people, like music stars, movie actresses, football players, and so on. It seems that the personal lives figure weight much more than the contribution they make to society. Moreover, the most intriguing and absorbing themes for ordinary people are articles in gossip columns of many newspapers and glossy magazines about movie and pop stars, their glamorous way of living and scandals on their love affairs. Television contributes the problem too, as it shows too much of private and secret details of contemporary stars.
Secondly, sometimes publishing and showing the details of celebrities’ life could be destructive. It could be disappointing when people compared themselves to famous persons. The real problem begins when the media tries to over show the lives of celebrities. For example-: talking about their relationships or the places they go does not make any sense. Even more, it irritates the celebrities at a personal level. Also, it so happens that sometimes media forget about the common man! For example-: if a common person achieves something and the media still talks about the lives of celebrities instead of showing the common man’s struggle, it came as quite disheartening to them.
To sum up, I would like to state that modern media make us addicted to the current trends and it is sometimes impossible to stay away from its oppressive influence.
