IELTS WRITING TASK 2

The use of software makes it unnecessary for people to know how to spell words correctly these days.

Is this statement that you agree with? To what extent do you agree or disagree?

These days, due to the popularity of technology spelling application in studying and working, many people suppose that it is not essential for them to spell accurately. Personally, I disagree with this statement.

Firstly, it said that the reliability of spell-checking programs is not comprehensively guaranteed. Although the highly advanced technology, spell checkers are simply apps which made by human; thus, some misspelling in text, for example, could be overlooked. Secondly, spelling is the foundation of literacy. To be more precise, in modern life today, which requires every individuals to know how to be fluent in writing and reading, so that the practice of accurate spelling is an indispensable step in enhancing these skills. Furthermore, misspelling could also lead to misconception. As a matter of fact, the majority human's perceptions have been presented via written forms such as newspaper, books and letter. As a result, it is important to create a correct form of words, otherwise, misunderstanding could be experienced. Finally, immoderate reliance on checking tools might diminish human's faculty for spelling. Especially children, he or she would have to write reports or papers. Consequently, a poor spelling skill would invariably affect them and possibly determine his future success in life.

Admittedly, it is true that using advanced technology apps might aid save a remarkable amount of time for finding and correcting spelling mistakes. Nevertheless, I definitely claim that spelling well is not only a necessary ability in most occupations, but people also need to be able to spell correctly in order to communicate or take notes.

In conclusion, the advent of spelling programs is considered a functional assistance for modern lifestyle. However, I firmly believed that the prominence of the ability to spell words correctly should be acknowledged and the application of technology cannot replace human intellect.
