IELTS WRITING TASK 2

Please help me with my essay. Thank you so so much!

TOPIC: Many people believe that women make better parents than men and that is why they have a greater role in raising children in most societies. Others claim that men are just as good as women at parenting. Write an essay expressing your point of view. Give reasons for your answer.

To what extent do you agree with this statement?

You should write at least 250 words.

A child is born by both his father and his mother. Therefore, nurturing a child is a responsibility that should be shared by his parents. Some people argue that women can be better parents while others state that men are also good at raising children. In my opinion, I firmly believe that mothers are capable of taking care of children better than fathers.

Firstly, in psychological view, women are born with the strong intuition that helps them know others’ emotions better than men. Women are so intelligent in understanding emotions of people around them by having short conversations, even by looking facial expressions. This instinct of women allows them to understand their children’s nonverbal language. A good example of this is when children come to stage of toddler. Though children at this stage can say just a few words, their mothers still know what they mean to spoon-feeding if they are hungry or change their diapers if they are dirty.

Secondly, women have a substantial connection with their children. This strong bond is created not only by nine months of pregnancy but also the act of women’s breastfeeding. Mothers tend to sympathize with their children more than fathers. For instance, when a kid does something that is unacceptable such as lying or fighting with his relative, while his father will punish him for his naughty acting, his mother will ask him the reason why he behaves like that, explain why he should not do that and teach him tenderly.

In conclusion, although it is responsibility of both parents to raising a child, it is an undeniable fact that women are better than men in parenting. People who were raised by their parents will recognize that the tenderness, understanding, and sensitivity of their mothers teach them better than their fathers’ tough punishments.
