IELTS WRITING TASK 2

Please help me check this essay.

Topic: Some people think that government should ban dangerous sports, while others think that people should have freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Dangerous sports and risky games has become popular these days. However, some people are of the opinion that these extreme sport should be prohibited, whereas it is said that people have their right to play any sport which they like. The essay will discuss both points of view and present my personal opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why people against dangerous sports. First, sportsman can take a risk of injuries and even death when they play these sports. More seriously, their injuries and death can possibly affect on their family as well as society. For example, when people suffer from permanent spinal injury because of car racing, their families should take care of them during their remaining lives which causes financial and mental burden to their families. Moreover, playing dangerous sports can influence negatively on mental development of people especially young generation. To be more specific, children do not have enough awareness of what sportsperson do thus it is easy for them to imitate these activities. Therefore, they may become violence and rude as well.

On the other hand, proponents of extreme sports claim that these sports can improve their mental and physical health. People could have spirit of adventure so they always want to challenge themselves to play dangerous sports. In addition, these sports can built up their endurance and physical strength more effectively than other sports. Another plausible reason for this is that it is accepted that risks and dangers are always parts of game and cannot avoid. Hence, people have the freedom to play their favorite sports as long as they can estimate all possible problems and accidents.

In conclusion, playing dangerous sports contains both advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, people have every right to play sports they wish providing that they are fully aware of the influence of these sports on their safety, family and society as well.
