Ielts Writing task 2

"Some people believe that it is more important to teach children the literature of their own country, rather than that of other countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?"

History is a vital subject for every students. While it it argued that the past of their region must be taught , i believe not only local but also foreign history are essential for children.

On the one hand, the history of one region plays an important role in the development of the country. To be more specific, pupils are able to understand all the important events that happened in the past. By knowing what was their region used to be, they get to find out more about the history , as well as look up to the national heroes, who bring peace to their nation. If a child do not know what it country had been through, they will not understand the value of history and therefore will not feel proud of their beautiful country. Further more, teaching literature also helps passing the history from generation to generation, prevent the stories that has been protected from being forgotten.

On the other hand, learning local history without finding out foreign countries' , it would be complicated to figure out the history clearly. Some of the fights, or the meetings in the past are between two or more countries. As a result, one cannot get a fully sight of the history. For example, when being asked about a history event, the kid might not be able to answer if the question is about the other country. Not only memorize the history correctly, describing local and foreign history also helps students with their study, especially those who make a decision to study abroad. For instance, many international schools require a specific level of understanding their country's history through taking a test.

In conclusion, although some argued that provide children with foreign culture can affect the feeling to their own nation, In my opinion, having the opportunity to find out both will lead to the best result.
