IELTS Writing Task 2

Hi, can you please check my work? Thank you in advance.

It would be argued by some people that we should learn through working and experience. In my opinion, however, receiving education from university is a better way to have a good job.

There are several reasons why some people think that having some practical experience is a good way of preparing for the future career. Firstly, those who go straight into work will have hands-on knowledge that no teachers can teach them. They will be less shocked when faced with difficulties while working in comparison to those who only memorize what is written in books, which will result in them working more efficiently later. Secondly, people learn more effectively through experience than through books. Since we tend to forget what we can not apply to real life, reading 10 books about selling, for instance, might not be as a good idea as working part-time at a shop.

On the other hand, I think that getting a degree from university is still a more reasonable option. The first reason is that going to university provides you with a wider range opportunities. Since there are many complex fields that can not be learned through working such as engineering, biology, computer science, going straight to work sets a limit on your options. Also, achieving a degree indicates that you have good knowledge of certain fields, which will increase your chance of being accepted into the companies you apply to. If you have not finished university, recruiters can not know whether you are qualified enough in terms of knowledge to work for their companies.

In conclusion, although going straight to work might give you some certain benefits, I personally think we should aim achieving a qualification from university.
