Ielts writing task 2

Computers are often argued to be the most important invention of the last hundred years. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

My answer:

It is clear that the advent of computers has marked a significant leap in the history of human civilization since 20 century. In my opinion, I completely agree with the idea that computers remain the most influential invention over the past hundred years.

There is no doubt that calculations have become easier since first computers were born. A hundred years ago, calculating processes were carried out very hard and wasted lots of time with simple and slow devices such as calculators and abacuses. However, the obstacles were likely to be no longer when the first generation computers appeared. The number of calculations carried out per second are increasing from thousands to even millions with modern computers today. Therefore, not only work pace has risen considerably but also studying and researching of students as well as scientists become simpler.

At the same time, I believe that the advent of computers is the crucial milestone leads to the appearance of advanced technology devices such as the internet, smartphones, tablets, etc. To prove this view, I would say that operating systems play the important role to run any computer and after those technology devices are also run by operating systems like computers. So that, the idea that using an operating system to run the computer also run other advanced tools. For example, technology giants today also devise the operating system for their own such as Apple tools are famous for IOS operating system, Microsoft's computers today are known as Windows and mobile phones of Samsung, Sony also is using Androi.

In conclusion, I would state again that appearance of computers not only increase in effective work but it is also the foundation for devising other advanced technology devices.
