IELTS Writing Task 2

Topic: Some people think that governments should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have freedom to do any sports or activities. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Extreme sports have witnessed a myriad of calamities since it came to existence and as a result a great number of people argue that governments should abolish these games due to its high-risk. In my perspective, dangerous sports still have some positive impacts on participants and authorities can mitigate their hazard by imposing age-limit laws.

On the one hand, there are many reasons why many argue that government should prohibit extreme sports. Firstly, those are excessively depended on some objective factors particularly the weather and topography which can engender inevitably catastrophic accidents for participants. Secondly, the injured will consequently place a huge burden on health services and welfare state which officially backed up by governments. A mountaineering-related accident, for instance, can cause brain-damaged resulted in the wounded will live as persistent vegetative state in the rest of their lifetime.

On the other hand, others believe that people should be at liberty to play any sports. First of all, those as much as basically necessitate players physical strength with an agile mind to rise to the challenge and by participating in these hazardous pursuits, in addition, players can get their courage up. Moreover, the performances of players in these games are staggeringly artistic and it should be incentivized like any works of art. Finally, when it comes to ethical aspect, banning these sports is an legal inequality because the emergence of highly addictive products that are being used recklessly such as alcohol and cigarettes.

In conclusion, I personally think that governments should bludgeon the players into agreeing to the age-limit policy rather than prohibit extreme sports and hazardous activities.
