IELTS WRITING TASK 2

Topic is: "Writing, reading and maths are the three recognized traditional subjects. Computer skills should also be the fourth largest branch. Do you agree or disagree?".

It may indeed be true to claim that the curriculum has long been a thorny question perplexing numerous school governors. Whilst they persist in the idea that it is necessary to teach three traditional subjects, namely writing, reading and maths, I totally agree that adding computer skills would offer more advantages.

The major reason explaining why I agree this issue is because computer skills may have some benefits for society as a whole. The most prime virtue is that it has made substantial contribute to educate the quality of future generation of workers, among which IT engineer and accountant are a typical example. It goes without saying that they will become the well –educated workforce who boosts their country’s economic development, if they have thorough insights into computers. Another fundamental argument raised by advocates is that it helps undergraduates to acquire a good knowledge of information industry. With improving their knowledge, in turn, it also results in developing a range of experience and skills, which leads to open the door to better job opportunities.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages if they do not consider the addition of computer skills. The first one which deserves to draw people’s attention is that university graduates will do not feel comfortable and free when completing curriculum vitae while without this skill. Hundreds of researchers have shown that students will certainly face difficulties in seeking a job, as there is a lack of soft skills. Lastly, undergraduates will do not give us great opportunity to expose to material on the world. As a consequence, they cannot fully concentrate on their exams, which give rise to have a bad result.

In conclusion, all of subjects have played a significant role in the student’s life. For the reasons I have mentioned above, I strongly believe that the changes occurring to add computer skills are a positive step toward a better world.
