Topic: Cycling is more environmentally friendly than other forms of transport. Why is it not popular in many places? How can its popularity be increased?
Full essay:
It is believed that riding a bike produce no harmful pollutants to our environment. However, it’s not people first choice. While there are various reasons why cycling is not a common choice of transport, actions can be taken to increase its popularity.
There are three main reasons why cycling is rarely used nowadays. Firstly, it takes the cyclists a lot of effort. Riding a bike can burn a large amount of energy. Therefore, users often feel exhausted and tired after there arrival by cycling. Secondly, finding a place to fix a broken bicycle is not an easy task as mechanic shops to day only offer their service to repair other transports such as cars and motorbikes. For example, in my country, there are only a few shops that are willing to repair bycicle. Finally, it is very impractical to repair a broken bike since the price to fix the dammage usually is more expensive than the bike itself.
However, I think to make this mean of transport more popular is possible. For example, the government can set up a program which make people understand the tremendous impact of daily cycling on their health and can help them get into shape. If they fully understand, they will be more willing to make cyling their priority choice. Another initiative can be considered is to offer service to repair bycicle free of charge. By doing this, riders will have no difficulties when their bike is broken down. Furthermore, reduction in other transports is also very useful. Or another word, the government should import less cars and motorbikes and ther mainstreamed forms of transport.
In conclusion, while cycling is not a common mean of transport nowadays, the solutions I’ve mentioned will make it more popular.
