Topic: Some expert believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
It is argued that children should learn a language which is different to mother tongue at primary school at primary school. It is better than learning at secondary school. This has both positive and negative outcomes.
On the one hand, there are several advantages. It is clear that young children learn new languages much more easily than teenagers leading to understand and remember quickly. Futhermore, knowing a foreign language as a result they also communicate with international friends and have a chance to experience other cultures. Besides, the confidence will be increased when they recognise another language. For example, they travel to a country and if they know the language of the country. Therefore, they can visit or go shopping easily than people do not know.
On the other hand, it also has some disadvantages. First of all, because young children can easily remember a foreign language so they might be forget their mother tounge. For instance, children learn too much foreign language, they might speak this language so it is difficult to connect with the elders in the family. In addtion, teachers in primary schools may not have the necessary language skills to teach another language. If the foudation is not good, secondary schools could be faced with the difference to fix and change.
In conclusion, everything has both two sides. It is good to learn new language but they have to learn enough to make these benefits more achievable
