Hi everyone, can you help me with this essay, please? Thank you so much!
QUESTION:
As well as making money, business also have social responsibilities.
Do you agree or disagree?
ANSWER:
There has been a highly contentious debate surrounding the issue of enterprises’ public responsibilities, besides making money. In my opinion, each company should do more for society than only concentrating on generating profit.
To begin with, it is an indisputable fact that the more profit business could make, the more benefits they could contribute to society. Firstly, the top priority of any company is maximizing their profit to grow their business. This not only covers running costs of each company such as employee’ wages, production expense…but also creates job opportunities for many people. Secondly, corporations and firms pay huge taxes to the government every year. Therefore, authorities may spend these revenue on key fields, for examples heath care and education to improve living standard of community.
Equally importantly, though, there are strong reasons why business plays an essential role in society. The first reason is that industrial activities cause serious environmental damages. Global warming stemming from factories or discharging waste into lakes, rivers or even oceans results from the development of economy. These companies should care more about their waste treatment system to control environmental problems. Another reason is that enterprises should spend money for community purpose through charity and scholarships. For examples, in Vietnam, Citibank Scholarship gives hundreds of pure students nationwide opportunities to study each year.
By way of conclusion, I keep the firm hold on the view that businesses should consider their social responsibilities as important as financial aim.
