Topic Writing Task 1: The graph below shows the population of Chile by age group between 1975 and 2035

The line graph illustrates the demographic information of Chile in three age groups (0 to 14 years, 15 to 64 years, and 65 years and older) from 1975 to 2035. It can be seen that the population of the age group between 15 and 64 years old has accounted for the most significant proportion of Chileans and fluctuated in the period shown. Meanwhile, the portion of citizens under 14 years has plummeted considerably and is predicted to continue to decrease. In contrast, there has been an upward trend in the percentage of the oldest group and this figure is expected to get even bigger.

From 1975 to 2015, the rate of the oldest citizens stood at 5 percent and gradually went up to 10 percent. Despite being much smaller than the other groups, it is expected to grow steadily and end the period at 15 percent. By contrast, the figure for people under 14-year-old declined from nearly 40 percent to only 20 percent in 2016 and is anticipated to remain in dropping until the end of the period.

When it comes to the group of people between 15 and 64 years, there was a remarkable rise from nearly 52 percent to 70 percent in 2015. However, It is projected to get smaller between 2015 and 2035, ending the period at 60 percent.
