The table compares the percentage of students’s attendance in four kinds of secondary school in three different year.
Overall, the proportion of community had tendancy to increase while the figures for other types of school decreased from 2000 to 2009. In addition, specialist schools accounted for the lowest percentage during this period.
The percentage of students attending specialist schools fell down slightly between 2000 and 2009, from 12% in 2000 to 10% in 2009. Likewise, grammar schools also saw a decrease in students attendace, at 24% in 2000, 19% in 2005 and 12% in 2009 respectively.
In the first decade of the 21st century, there was a significant decline in pupils attendace of voluntary-controlled schools, at 52% in 2000, compared to only 20% in 2009. In contrast, the proportion of school children who attended community schools dramatically grew. The figure was 12% in 2000, went up to 58% in 2009 – which was the highest percentage in 4 different types of secondary school.
