The chart compares two genders in terms of their paticipation in the various sports in New Zealand in 2002.
Overall, it is clear that there are significant differences between the percentage of boys and girls who took park in those sports. However, a familiar figure for two groups can be seen when we look at athletics, baseketball and tennis.
Among all the sports, netball accounted for the highest female participation with above 25%, 25 times higher than boys. Approximate 22% and 5% of girls took part in swimming and athletics, while the boys's figures were only 14% and 4% respectively.
In comparison, soccer was the most popular sport for boys with 24% and only 5% of girls enjoyed this sport. In athletics, baseketball and tennis, boys and girls percentage was different only 1%. By contrast, female percentage was at least 5 times in marital arts and 10 times in cricket less than boys.
