The chart shows how agricultural land quality is negatively affected and the given table depicts the regions suffered from land degradation.
It is clear that over-grazing is the main factor that makes worldwide land become worse for agriculture. Meanwhile it is obvious that Europe is where land degradation occurs the most.
Deforestation and over-cultivation are two other reasons for land degradation, which their figures account for 30% and 28% respectively.
We can see from the table that in North America, where 5% of total land is going down in terms of quality, over-cultivation is the main cause. Deforestation in Europe is so severe that its figure makes up 9.8% in the total amount of degraded land. Oceania is where over-cultivation does not affect land’s production, yet 11.3% of its gradually disqualified land is caused by over-grazing. 23% of land in Europe is becoming less productive, while the figure for the group of islands in the South Pacific (including Australia and New Zealand) is 13%.
