The 3 pie charts compare the changes in the different kinds of books sold by shopkeepers between 1972 and 2012.
Overall, the number of adult fictions were consumed increased double over 40 years, while there was a constant decrease in the percentage of buying biography books.
In 1972, around 20% adult fiction was bought by commuters. That figure climbed double to 45% in 2012. The opposite trend can be seen when we look at the biography books. In 1972, the number of people who spent on biography books accounted for 20% of 5 categorizes, but dropped to 8% in 2012.
In 1972, children's fiction was sold at the same rate as adult fiction with 20% and rose to 25%, a quarter of all in 2012. The period from 1972 to 2012 saw a fluctuation in the proportion of travel books. That figure rose from 15% to 18% in 1992, but fell again to 10% in 2012.
