IELTS WRITING TASK 1 : MAPS

( The maps below show an industrial area in the town of Norbiton and planned future development of the site. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words. )

The two maps given illustrate an industrial area in the town of Norbiton and its projected redevelopment.

Overall, it is clear that in the future, this industrial area is to have additional facilities and accommodations. Besides, it is planned to have a smaller new roundabout erected to the original one’s south.

Look at the two maps more closely, one can see that to the east of the maps, the factories are projected to be pulled down to build new housing along the roundabout’s path. Additionally, there is going to be a school built to the end and a playground to the north-east side of the eastern roundabout’s path. The medical center is to be constructed to the bottom right-hand side of this roundabout.

In comparison, the maps’ west is also projected to have factories replaced by new housing, however, a new path is going to run to the north-west side from the roundabout. There are going to have some shops put up to the roundabout’s bottom left-hand side. Furthermore, a new path expanded from the roundabout is intended to cut through the northern river .
