In 2009, girls started reading around 50 books, twice as many as boys, over 20 books. Then, there was a noticeable growth in the quantity of books read by girls, hit the highest point at 100 from 2009 to 2011 before continuing to decline by 20 books in 2012.
Turning to boys’ curve, their book numbers rose slightly to 40 in 2010, at which point the number of library books read by them went up to the same level as their counterpart, at 100 books. Afterward, the number for boys reached its peak of 140 books, which was higher than girls at the end of the period.
