IELTS Writing Task 1 - Islip town centre

The two maps illustrate the present city centre of Islip and how it will look after some redevelopment works.

According to the plan, Main Road will be turned into a pedestrian area and the shops at the north will be substituted by a bus terminal, a mall and a parking area. Finally, new houses are going to be built right next to the car park. The southern side of Main Road will also go through changes. In particular, there is the project to build a new residential area between the park and the pre-existent houses. Moreover, the area of the park is going to be reduced, albeit its rectangular shape will be preserved, to make space to a new dual carriageway road which will surround the whole city centre.

Overall, the town centre of Islip will dramatically change with the constructions of new residential and commercial buildings. However, the greatest change is given by the ring road around the city centre which will require further land consumption.
