The pie charts compare the proportions of spending water on different usages among six main areas of the world. Obviously, agriculture production is dominant over the world and the consumed water proportion reaches highest ratio at 88% in Asia and lowest ratio 32% in Europe. The less-developed countries have a high consumed water proportion in agriculture at more than 70%, such as: 88% in Central Asia, 84% in Africa, 81% in South East Asia and 71% in South America. In developed countries, which have less focus on agriculture, such as North America and Europe, the consumed water proportion in agriculture are lower than less-developed areas but still account for more than 30%.

Industry is the 2nd field spends a lot of water for its activities. In developed areas, the proportion of spending water has a lightly different, such as: 53% in Europe and 48% in North Africa. There is a big opposition in less-developed areas, the proportion reaches below 15%, such as: 12% in South East Asia and 5% in Central Asia.
